Summer is often the season when calendars fill with road trips, flights, and plans to explore somewhere new. Yet on Florida’s Treasure Coast, some of the season’s most memorable adventures are just around the corner. From St. Lucie to Martin to Indian River counties, here’s a closer look at some of Wylder’s favorite ways to build a summer bucket list with memories to last a lifetime.

Horseback Riding on Florida's Treasure Coast

1. Sun, Sand, and Sea Turtles – Oh My!

The summer bucket list adventures on Florida’s Treasure Coast go far beyond relaxing on a beach towel. On Hutchinson Island in Fort Pierce, riders ages 10 and up can saddle up for a horseback ride along the Atlantic shoreline. For a taste of the Caribbean without leaving the state, Fort Pierce Inlet State Park offers snorkeling just 100 yards from shore, where vibrant reefs and tropical fish thrive in crystal-clear waters.

Further south in Stuart, the Florida Oceanographic Society hosts nighttime turtle walks, giving guests the chance to witness loggerhead sea turtles nesting under the stars. Snorkelers can also explore the historic Georges Valentine shipwreck just offshore, one of Florida’s 12 underwater archaeological preserves.

2. Get Hooked on Treasure Coast Fishing Tournaments

For fishing enthusiasts, the summer bite on the Treasure Coast is unbeatable. With that comes a variety of tournament opportunities as well. From May 23-24, the Treasure Coast Building Association hosts its annual Sailfish Tournament, bringing together anglers for a thrilling battle on the water. Then, on August 9, the Treasure Coast Bonito Blast takes place. As the largest one-day tournament on the coast, the event also raises money for the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund.

3. Summer Bucket List – Sports Edition

For those who prefer their sporting action on land, the Treasure Coast delivers that too. The St. Lucie Mets light up Clover Park in Port St. Lucie with fast-paced minor league thrills. For a new take on golf, PopStroke in Tradition offers two Tiger Woods-designed 18-hole putting courses, a full-service restaurant, and on-course service. Golf fans also can’t wait for PGA Champion Jim Furyk’s debut course design to tee off at Glynlea Country Club. Set to open mid-summer, it’s sure to take the area’s sports scene to a new level of excitement.

4. Glide Through the Waters of the Treasure Coast

With the Atlantic Ocean, Intracoastal Waterway, and Indian River Lagoon all on its doorstep, it’s no surprise the region is a playground for kayaking. This summer, the Environmental Resource Department offers guided kayak tours for just $20. On June 7, paddle through the lush floodplain forests of Ten Mile Creek Preserve along the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. Then, on June 13, explore the mangrove swamps and spoil islands of the Indian River Lagoon at DJ Wilcox Preserve.

5. Enjoy Wildlife Walks or Sunset Garden Yoga

In Port St. Lucie, Spruce Bluff Preserve also offers ways to immerse oneself in the wild beauty of Florida while also having a bit of fun. Two self-guided trails cover the 97-acre site, leading explorers into scrubby flatwoods and river floodplains. Keep an eye out for ospreys, woodpeckers, owls, and other native birds along the way. Not too far away, the Botanical Gardens keep things active with sunset yoga on Mondays and Tai Chi on Wednesdays – fitness with a view.

6. Action-Packed AND Air-Conditioned Adventures

Indoor fun brings the energy too, with summer camps across the Treasure Coast. At Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park, Camp Urbie keeps kids moving with trampolines, obstacle courses, and high-energy activities. Over at The Sunrise Theatre, their summer camp packs in music, dance, and drama across three themed sessions, from dreaming big to community building. In Jensen Beach, The Children’s Museum of the Treasure Coast keeps curious minds engaged with camps that include guest chefs, space-themed adventures, and exclusive museum playtime.

The single-family homes also embrace Florida’s natural side, with many offering lake or preserve views. With move-in ready homes and to-be-built homesites available, prices range from the $300s to the $500s. Four model homes are open daily for tours.
