Square footage still matters. So do bedrooms, kitchens and flex spaces to work from home. But buyers are also adding a livelier question to the home search: What will we do when we step outside?
At Wylder in Port St. Lucie, the answer can change from one day to the next. A morning might begin with a walk, a run or the dog leading the way. Later could mean a swim, a workout, pickleball or a round of golf. Across 2,441 acres, Wylder gives residents plenty of ways to get moving, get outside and fit recreation into an ordinary day. Austin Burr, GreenPointe Developers’ Regional President, says that sense of space comes up often with residents who have moved north from South Florida.
“I think people really like the space,” Burr said. “They’ve got more space, and they’ve got connectivity.”
At Brystol, recreation is already part of the routine. Brystol South’s lakeside amenity center brings together a pool, pickleball courts and a resident fitness center—giving residents easy choices for a workout, a swim or a game across the net.
And there is more to come. Planned recreation at Brystol North includes additional pickleball courts, a putting green and a hammock lawn, adding still more ways to play—or simply slow down.
At K. Hovnanian’s Four Seasons at Wylder, the community’s gated 55+ neighborhood, a day can move from the Audubon Club to the pool, fitness center, racquet courts or walking paths. Play a match. Take a class. Go for a swim. Meet up with friends. Or choose a walk when that is exactly enough.
At Waverly, Wylder’s townhome neighborhood, getting outside can be the activity itself. Paths, lake views and preserved natural areas create a scenic setting for a walk, while a planned dog park will add another easy reason to head outdoors.
At Glynlea Country Club, the day can start with a tee time. The Jim Furyk-designed 18-hole championship golf course is open along with the aquatic Toptracer driving range and racquet courts. Burr calls the golf course a “happening spot,” with residents from across Wylder coming out to play. Planned club amenities will add more opportunities for fitness, recreation, dining and gathering.
Recreation at Wylder does not have to mean being in constant motion. The fun is having choices. A Tuesday morning might call for a dog walk. Saturday could mean a tee time or pickleball match. Other days leave room for a swim, a stroll, a workout or meeting friends. Different interests—and different stages of life—can lead to very different wish lists.
That is why recreation matters more in the home search. Buyers are looking past the amenity count. They are imagining their own days and asking whether the community around a house gives them enough reasons to enjoy being there.
